This song is a good way to introduce everyone in a new class of students at the beginning of the year

Watch This Movie of "Hickety-Tickety" Game being played:

 

To play the game:

  1. Gather a group seated cross-legged in a circle.
  2. Keep the "swinging beat" on knees and sing the song.
  3. Continue the beat and point to a child onthe word "you" who responds after the song by saying his or her name.
  4. The rest of the class repeats the name.
  5. Repeat the song until all in the circle have had a chance to say their name.

 

Challenge the kids to keep the beat going even as they say their names. If desired, reproduce the music and have one child or teacher point to the heart beats as the song is sung.
