		In My Grandmother's Garden
		MEET THE AUTHOR: Kit Eakle (MEET THE ILLUSTRATOR: JEAN EAKLE below)

		Kit Eakle, is the author and composer of “In My Grandmother's Garden.” He has been a teacher for over 20 years. He has taught elementary school music and been a regular classroom teacher from Prince George, British Columbia, CANADA to Prince George County, Maryland, USA. He has written MusicTales and other musical stories for his classroom students for most of those years. However, "In My Grandmother's Garden" is the first of these stories to be published. Kit dreams of publishing many more MUSICTALES to make written music accessible and fun for kids! You can see 2 of his stories in progress online: “Michel's Journey - A Cajun Tale,” and “Claude, Chou-Chou and Sister Dolly’s Cakewalk: A Tale About Debussy”
	His students have created many musictales as well. You can see some examples online of two different such stories. Here are examples of kids own verses to the folk songs: “CUMBAYAH,” and “HUSH LITTLE BABY.” Kit is a violinist. He has worked at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on their ARTSEDGE website. He helped develop the Fine Arts program for the British Columbia Ministry of Education in Victoria, Canada, and was instrumental in helping that province require the fine arts in public schools from kindergarten to grade 12. Known as “Mr. E” to his students, Kit now teaches classroom music in Tiburon, California. Kit LOVES to read and perform for kids. Write him at kit@musickit.com

MEET THE ILLUSTRATOR: Jean Eakle

		Jean Eakle is the mother of the author. Here they are together at a recent reading in Tiburon, California. Jean Eakle has been a lifelong watercolorist. She is a grandmother, a gardener, a writer and spiritual inspiration for all around her. Retired from her career as an elementary school teacher and occupational therapist. She has lived at her "home by the..." San Francisco "..Bay" in Point Richmond California for 35 years, where she continues to tend and paint the flowers in her garden.
