RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA— Bay area children’s book publisher, MUSICKIT, is announcing that their first book, In My Grandmother's Garden (ISBN #0-9713194-0-5) has been nominated for the prestigious GRADIVA AWARD. This award, given annually by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis, will be presented at the annual NAAP Conference luncheon on April 27, 2002 at the Lighthouse at 111 East 59^th St. in New York City.

“In My Grandmother’s Garden” is a unique children’s picture book by San Francisco Bay area [or Point Richmond, or East Bay, or Bay Area – take your pick] author/composer, Kit Eakle. The book features lovely pictures and references to San Francisco Bay and its bridges. The story, told in song is about a young girl and her grandmother and how they overcome the death of their grandfather/husband through creating art. The illustrations are the actual artwork of these two main characters.

Mr. Eakle, a music educator in Tiburon, will be reading and performing from the book at Book Passage bookstore in Corte Madera on April 8 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
