OVER in the Endangered Meadow

In my grandfather's parlor is an over-stuffed chair
We sat up on grandpa's lap as he sat there.
"Sing!" said my grandpa, "We sing," said we.
And this what we sang on my grandpa's knee:

In the North Atlantic Ocean 'neath the Arctic sun
Lived a mom and papa Right Whale and their little calf one!
"Blow!" said the mother, "I blow!" said the one.
And he they blew and they spouted 'neath the Arctic sun.

Far away in China, where the bamboo grew,
Lived a young mother Panda and her little cubs two.
"Chew!" said the mother, "We chew!!" said the two.
And they chewed and were glad where the bamboo grew!

In the Bangledeshi Jungle, where tigers run free
Lived a mother Bengal tiger and her little cubs three.
"Pounce," said the mother.
"We pounce!" said the three
And they pounced in the jungle where the tigers run free!

Fin, fur, and feather and the human race
Must all live together as wed spin through space.
"Share!" said my Grandpa. "Please share this place.
We must learn to live together as we spin through space!"

"Share!" said my Grandpa. "Please share this place.
We must learn to live together as we spin through space!"

Hides a tiny Island Gray Fox mother and her little kits four.
Pounce !" said the mother. "We pounce!" said the four.
And they pounced, but stayed hidden as the golden eagles soared.

At the mouth of a tunnel where the prairie dogs dive
Lived a Black-footed Ferret and her little ferrets five.
"Hunt!" said the mother. "We hunt!" said the five.
And they hunted and were glad where the prairie dogs dive.

On San Clemente Island in a nest make made of sticks,
Lived a Loggerhead Shrike and her little shrikes six
"Fly!" said the mother. "We fly!" said the six,
And they flew and were glad from their nest made of sticks.)
